Cozy Situations- Home Update

Happy Wednesday lovelies! I hope you’re all having a great week so far, it’s pretty nice that we’re already halfway through the week. Thank you Labor Day for the fast work week! This past weekend we finally had a weekend home. There has been so much traveling over the summer, which is great and I’m so thankful we’ve been able to do it all! But honestly, I was missing home bad. Being able to just sit on the couch, watch Netflix and drink coffee was seriously a vacation for me.

With that being said, I wanted to give you all a house update! If you haven’t had a chance to read the last home update click HERE

Starting this month I’ll finally have the time (and extra funds) to start making the house feel homey. I know there will always be something to do around the house, at least that’s what everyone keeps telling me. But I’m so excited for the day when I walk in and can kick my feet up without worrying about what project to tackle next.

This week I’ll be giving y’all a nice tour of the main floor. There is still a lot of work to be done,  and the upstairs is where it needs the most.

Hopefully I’ll be able to give y’all an upstairs tour in a few weeks!

Living Room

I’ll be honest with y’all, this room has been a challenge. I thought having a large living room would be great, but I’ve been struggling to create a homey vibe.

This room just needs some major help overall. The rug really helped to pull the couch, coffee table and grey items together but it is still missing the feel that I’m going for. I somehow convinced Aaron that he and his brother’s should build built-in shelving on the main wall in this room…..fingers crossed it goes smoothly and happens in the next couple of months! I really feel that white built-in shelves will not only brighten up the room, but add extra storage for blankets.

Dining Room

Our Dining room is a little bare at the moment. Thankfully sometime soon this beautiful kitchen table and chairs will be ours! It was purchased from my friends in Michigan, so now the challenge of getting it to Ohio is the only thing standing in our way. Sadly the “BABY” sign and table décor will not be coming to Ohio, but don’t worry I have some great things planned for place settings.

My goal is to build up the bar cart and start adding themed holiday pieces throughout the year. Yes, it is a little bare at the moment…. but we’ve had lots of people over and traveled. So let this one slide this time!  I am also in the stages of transitioning all the wine bottles into a new fun project. I love the barcart but I really want it to stay a place only for “fun bar” items.

Kitchen

This room came together the fastest, probably because the kitchen is my happy place. I love cooking and the fact that I can completely own this space was amazing. So amazing that I’ve become a freak about making sure it is clean and organized. Which I’m sure my mom read that sentence in complete shock, but hey, we all have to grow up eventually right? Later this month they’ll be a complete coffee bar station! Finding the right piece has been somewhat of a challenge, considering we have been out of town and working full time.

Sometime next year I would love to have white cabinets throughout the kitchen. I’m forcing myself to be patient and tackle the projects that are the highest priority first, and sadly white cabinets do not fall under that category.

My goal is to have everything put together by Thanksgiving. I know that really only gives us 2.5 months, but it should be manageable considering there are not anymore trips! Plus, this will be the first Thanksgiving that I’m not spending with my family. Weird, that I moved closer to them and yet this will be the first time in 25 years that I’ll be spending Thanksgiving apart. We’ll be having Thanksgiving with Aaron’s family and I really want to have a cozy space for us to share with his family that weekend as well. So fingers crossed!

I’ll keep you all updated on the house development through the blog and Instagram!

Make sure to follow and subscribe to both so you don’t miss out on a single thing!

XOXOX

    1. Thank you! That’s definitely my favorite piece of furniture so far! Hopefully everything else will start coming together soon!
