D.C. Weekend Review

I’m so sad that our past trip to D.C. has already come and gone! We had such a fun time touring the museums and monuments. One of the best things about D.C. is how close everything is located to each other. It really helped us to get the most out of the weekend!

Where we stayed: Club Quarters

Where we ate: Friday night we had dinner at a local pub by the Capital. Our Uber pretty much dropped us off on a random street and called it a night. Lucky for me, Aaron is a great sport and found an awesome restaurant. Saturday we ate lunch on the food truck row right by the Washington Monument. Saturday night was all about Uber Eats since I refused to walk anymore and Aaron was asleep come 7pm. Sunday….well we were completely exhausted and opted for a safe choice of Chipotle.

We visited: Lincoln Memorial, Reflection Pool, Natural History museum, American history museum, the Capital, Library of Congress, Smithsonian, Senate Gallery, White House and the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle.

How we got around: majority of the time we walked everywhere. Our hotel was less then a mile from literally everything we wanted to visit. If something was over a mile it was really easy to grab an Uber.

What would we of changed: would have booked a different hotel, the location was great but the amenities were outdated. I definitely would have packed better walking shoes or gel inserts for my shoes. The whole weekend we walked a little over ten miles, my boots were cute but not the comfiest. Ideally we would have wanted to go closer to spring, all of the fountains had been drained due to winter. Next time I will make more of an effort to eat at the local restaurants.

What would we do again: stay at a hotel walking distance from the museums,

What I wore: my outfits for the weekend were pretty simple and consisted of: jeans, sweaters, long jackets, flat booties and blanket scarves. The highest the temperature reached was 50 degrees on Sunday and we were outside majority of the weekend. We flew Southwest, so the free checked bag really encouraged my overpacking… at least I looked cute right?

Hope this helps for when you travel to D.C.! We are starting to plan our next trip, any suggestions of where we should go?
