Lazy Hair Weeks

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and today is filled with an unlimited flow of coffee.

Last week I decided to go a full 6 days without washing my hair. Typically I wash my hair every 3 days, so this was going to be a big accomplishment. It is important to properly prep and clean your hair before heading down the path of no return. I used a residue removal shampoo, regular shampoo and decided to give this new deep conditioner hair mask a try.

To be 100% honest with you all, my hair was holding up really well until I hit day 5. By day 5 it felt like my hair was not clean and even though all of my friends said it looked normal I knew in my soul they were wrong.

Product wise I used:

Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo: this shampoo is used first, it is great for taking out the extra dry shampoo or hairspray. If it has been awhile since I’ve used this shampoo I’ll usually wash, rinse and truly repeat.

John Freda Blonde: I naturally have blonde hair, but after a few days without washing my hair it feels like my color starts to darken. The whole John Freda blonde line helps to brighten up my color (specifically roots) which is extremely helpful when a lack of washing is involved.

Hask Greek Yogurt Mask: I was shopping in Walgreens two weeks ago and found these deep conditioner hair masks. They were $2.50/each so I decided to try the color protectant and hydrating masks. I supplemented my normal condition for the color protectant  mask, which smelled like pomegranates and left my hair smelling AMAZING the next couple of days. After looking around online I discovered that Hask created this greek yogurt mask line exclusively for Walgreens.

After washing and conditioning my hair I made sure to blow dry it fully. Having really thick hair this took what seemed like ages, but completely worth it. Every night I made sure to wrap my hair in a bun on the top of my head and clip it with a butterfly clip. This helps to prevent your hair from creasing over night. Also, make sure to smooth all of your hair before clipping.

All and all I enjoyed not having to worry about washing or blow drying my hair for 6 days. But I do not think it is something I could pull off every week…. five days would be doable and less of an “ew” feeling. My goal is to one day be able to pull off the six days without washing like a champ! For now I will be taking baby steps, jumping from 3 to 6 days was a big one for my scalp.

I am planning to do a couple 5 days without washing for a few more weeks. Has anyone successfully pulled off a whole week? Because if so you are a champion and I want your hair! Fingers crossed I will eventually train my hair to chill out and accept my laziness.
