How to Care for Your Engagement Ring
Happy Wednesday lovelies! It has been a hot second since I did a Wedding Wednesday post. I wanted to make sure that this post was beneficial for everyone, not only those who are currently engaged. One of the things I wish I would have known more about, was how to care for your engagement ring. About a week after we got engaged it hit me, I had no idea how to care for my ring. Like, do I take it off when I shower? How about when I workout? Everyone I asked had a different opinion, and I felt lost to the whole engagement ring game. After some research, I’m ready to share tips on how to care for your engagement ring!
When Should You NOT Wear Your Ring
So, this is a hard one. It seems like everyone has mixed feelings and thoughts on the topic. After a lot of research (AKA googling like a psycho) I’ve come to the following conclusions:
- Working out – If possible, do not wear your engagement ring when you are working out. When you’re lifting weights, throwing your body this way and that, it is easy to knock a diamond out of place. Instead of wearing my engagement ring, I’ve been rocking a QUALO ring.
- When baking – Now, I can’t really say that I bake that much. But everything I’ve read has said to remove your ring when baking. When you’re using your hands to roll cookies, it’s easy for the dough to get stuck in your ring. And even worse, it’s easy to transfer germs from your ring to the dough.

How Should You Clean Your Engagement Ring
The best way to clean a diamond ring, no matter what your ring’s setting or metal type, is plain soap and water. There are so many DIY options, no joke I read one that involved ketchup. But the option that everyone seems to agree is best involves soap and water.
To make the mixture, get a small bowl and add very warm water and basic dishwashing soap. Soak your ring for about 20 to 40 minutes depending on how dirty it is. Using chlorine or other harsh chemicals, can damage the engagement ring. It’s important to rinse your ring thoroughly after cleaning in order to remove any soap residue.

It’s also suggested that you take your ring to the jeweler’s for a cleaning twice a year. I’m planning to take my engagement ring to be cleaned the week of our wedding. Definitely want it shinny for all the pictures!
I just received an email that we are 160 days away from the wedding, so crazy! The months are really flying by, so I need to step my planning up! I’d also love to hear any of your how to care for your engagement ring tips.
XOXO
