What to Wear to a Black Tie Wedding
Happy Tuesday babes! This week has already been a whirlwind, and I can’t believe we’re only two days in. Before jumping into all the crazy stuff happening today, I’m so excited to share today’s post with y’all! This past weekend Aaron and I went to Richmond, Virginia for his cousin’s wedding. It was so nice spending time with all of his family and being able to be a part of his cousin’s special day! I’m so excited to share the dresses I wore this past weekend with y’all in today’s, What to Wear to a Black Tie Wedding post!
Rehearsal Dinner Outfit
The rehearsal dinner was at a beautiful boat house restaurant in Richmond. This was the first rehearsal dinner I had attended as a guest. So figuring out what exactly to wear was somewhat challenging.
Since the wedding was black tie, I figured it was a safe bet to dress up for the rehearsal dinner. I found this adorable pink floral dress at Nordstrom Rack and thought it was perfect for a venue on the water.
Here are some similar dresses to easily recreate this look!
So You’re a Guest, Here’s What to Wear to a Black Tie Wedding
In typical Emily fashion, I procrastinated until the last second before finding a dress for the wedding. Thankfully Anthropologie had a great selection of floor length dresses that fit the black tie bill! From the moment I put this floor length dress on, it was love. I loved the floral detail, high neck and how flattering the cut was. Y’all will definitely see more of this little number the next couple of months!
I was not able to find the exact dress (pretty sure it was a return at my local Columbus Anthro) but found some other dresses that have the same look!
Let’s Talk Details
The weekend of the wedding it was in the high 80’s, low 90’s… Pair that with my minimal experience attending a black tie wedding, and you have one very flustered girl.
When attending a black tie wedding there are a few “musts” for your dress.
- You need a floor length dress. This is a non-negotiable in my book when it comes to a formal wedding.
- Comfortable heels. Y’all know I wear the same block heel from Target for every single occasion that involves dressing up. Not only are they SO comfortable, they’re simple and go with anything.
- Simple jewelry. When attending a black tie wedding, you’re most likely wearing a dress you would not typically wear. Let this dress speak for itself and be the hero of your outfit!
I would love to hear your go to look for summer weddings! I’m seeing a lot of floral and chiffon in my future.
XOXO
Emily
