Happy Monday babes! I am so excited to kick this week off with some blogging tips and tricks! We all know that creating Instagram content that is attractive, engaging and provides value is always every blogger’s main goal. Today I will not only share my tips for creating beautiful home decor posts, but how you can style your home to make the process simple and easy!
Tip #1: Start with a clean slate
Aaron makes fun of me, but for our new home our color palette was white and light grey. Yes, white and marble creates a beautiful home but it also shows up AMAZING in photos. There’s a reason all those home decor posts you like on Instagram fall against white backgrounds. Painting your walls white might seem sterile at first, but this allows you to sprinkle color throughout your house in other ways. Either through decorate pillows, wall decor, floral arrangements and adding contrasting furniture.
Tip #2: Add Layers to Your Photos
Look at these two almost exactly similar photos:
Which one is your eye drawn towards? The photo on the right, correct? The reason behind this, adding layers and dimensions to your photos makes them more attractive. They catch your attention and ultimately make you pause. The only difference between the photo on the left and the photo on the right: 1 pillow and 1 blanket. Don’t be afraid to add different elements to your home decor set up!
Tip #3: Pick a base color theme and stick to it
I love the color combination: white, grey, navy, gold and greenery green (is that a color? I’m rolling with it!) I started with a white base throughout our home and then added small touches of grey and navy throughout our pillows, blankets, and fixtures. After what I call the, “second layer” is complete, I go back through and add hits of greenery. From our coffee knook to our kitchen table, there is a cohesive greenery theme.
Tip #4: Angle’s Are Your Friend
Once you create your Instagram perfect room, shift your body around from different corners to grab an unique angle. This will allow you to photograph the same room, but make it look completely different. Hello content maker!
Tip #5: Use the Holiday’s to Spice things Up
I love the holiday’s, like every single holiday. Mostly because it is an excuse to buy some holiday home decor and give my house a mini makeover! I bring the holiday love through pillow cases, coffee cups and wall decor. If you buy your holiday decor ahead of time, it’s always discounted and lasts for years!
Adding holiday pieces in your home, should make sense. They should not only connect to your everyday home decor, they should elevate your home in a simple way. Start small with pillow cases, and creating holiday coffee knooks and bars. From there build up and you will have a gorgeous home everyone raves about!
I hope you loved this tips & tricks post! I am planning to share a new tip & trick around the home, to create beautiful photos each month. Let me know what room you’d like a tip on next!
XOXO
