Kentucky Bourbon Trail: Your Guide to An Amazing Weekend!

Happy Monday lovelies! I hope you all had the best weekend, and Monday isn’t getting the best of you. If you follow me on Instagram, then you already know we spent this past weekend in Kentucky. We visited a few of the distilleries on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and had the best time!

WHERE TO STAY

One of the hardest parts about the Kentucky Bourbon trail, is that there is no central place to stay. If you’re wanting to tour the whole trail then I highly suggest breaking it up into 3 days. As well as staying in different places for the Louisville and Frankfort parts. Aaron’s top distillery to visit was Buffalo Trace, so we ended up staying at an Airbnb about 2 miles away. You can find the exact house here!

DISTILLERY TOURS

Our first stop was at Buffalo Trace Distillery, it was right up the road from our Airbnb which was one of the main reasons we decided to stay there. Aaron is OBSESSED with Blanton’s, so his one requirement was tour Buffalo Trace first. Which, if you are a Blanton’s fan, I highly suggest attending their first tour of the day. We purchased our bottles of Blanton’s before the tour and after they were completely sold out for the weekend.

The tours at Buffalo Trace are always free, and come with a tasting at the end. Buffalo Trace Distillery is technically not a part of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, but I highly suggest visiting! The tour guides are full of information and for a free tour, you really get a lot out of it!

Our next stop was Four Roses Distillery. At this point in the day it was completely down pouring outside. So we opted for their 20 min history and tasting option. Honestly, I would suggest doing the 20 min tour if you got this year. They’re currently under construction, so you’re not able to get the full experience.

The last stop on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail for us, was at Three Brother’s Distillery. Hands down the coolest tour and experience! They are a small distillery in comparison to everywhere else we visited. But definitely the best. Part of the tour involves trying bourbon straight from the barrels, as well as having the option to get a bottle of bourbon straight from the barrel. Three Brother’s is not sold in any stores, so it’s such a unique experience and special to have a bottle from their distillery. Aaron and I agreed that we will not open up the bottle until after the wedding. As a sort of celebration bottle!

We had such a fun weekend and already said this was going to become a yearly trip for us! If you’ve been before I’d love to hear what you thought as well!

XOXO
