Peloton Bike – Is it Worth the Money?

Happy Wednes/day babes! I am so excited to share my new fitness goals and what I’m thinking about our Peloton bike. Since sharing our Peloton bike on my Instagram stories, one of my top asked questions has been: is it worth the money. So, today I am spilling the details and giving you my honest opinion on if the Peloton bike is worth your hard earned money.

We’ve had the bike for about two months now, and I can honestly say that it has been one of our best purchases! I was very apprehensive about a few things before we decided to purchase our bike. I wondered, would we ever use it? Would I actually feel motivated throughout the workouts? And was it going to break the bank? So let’s dive into everything we researched before buying our bike and the reality after owning it for a few months.

WOULD WE EVER USE OUR PELOTON AFTER THE FIRST WEEK

I’ve always struggled with working out at home. I love the concept around it, how all you have to do is throw on your shoes and you’re instantly at the gym. The reality, I would end up working out for 10mins, skipping a few of the harder moves and barely breaking a sweat. Investing in a Peloton bike is definitely a bigger commitment then purchasing an online program or a few pieces of workout equipment. Which is partly why, I believe I’ve continued to ride our bike weekly. Here are a few other factors that also have helped us continue to ride the bike every week:

  • Our Peloton bike is in a separate room from where we ever hang out.
  • We pay monthly for our bike, so it feels like a membership is constantly being taken out.
  • Peloton has monthly challenges that help to motivate and keep you on track.
  • When I ride the bike it is always before 4pm. This could just be a personal issue, but I feel like the less time I have to push something off the more likely I am to do it.

WOULD I ACTUALLY FEEL MOTIVATED THROUGHOUT THE WORKOUTS?

Yes, a million times yes. When you purchase the bike you also receive a heart rate monitor and headphones. Both of these are crucial in staying motivated throughout your ride. I wouldn’t necessarily consider myself a competitive person, but I am VERY competitive when it comes to myself. So having a heart rate monitor and bike that tracks your calories, miles, output energy and overall points has been one of the main reasons I’ve stayed motivated. These all contribute to the mindset of wanting to be better than the last ride.

Another reason, I’ve stuck with the workouts throughout the entire ride is in large part thanks to the instructors. Once you find an instructor you love, they have a HUGE library of classes you can pick from.

IS THE PELOTON BIKE GOING TO BREAK THE BANK?

Well, I do not know your personal finances so I can not fully speak to this aspect for you. But, if you are interested in a Peloton Bike, I will tell you it is significantly more affordable then you would think. Aaron and I pay a monthly fee that includes the following:

  • Paying for the bike
  • Our unlimited class membership (cycling, weightlifting classes and yoga)
  • All of our accessories were free when we purchased the bike. But I mentally include these in the price for some reason. (bike shoes, heart rate monitor, water bottle, and headphones)

Each month we pay $40 for both of us to have unlimited classes, and then $70 for our bike. So our monthly total is $110, which compared to my unlimited Flywheel membership for 1 person this is a steal! I also know that it is cheaper if it’s only one person, but I do not know the exact pricing.

Overall, making our Peloton purchase was one of the best things we did in . 2018 for our health. I’m honestly so excited to get back home and start riding again! If you have a Peloton make sure to check out my Instastories so we can take a ride together!

  1. Super helpful- thank you! When you break it down monthly it definitely seems like it’s worth the investment πŸ™‚
