Why You Should Give up

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend and is mentally preparing for the upcoming week.

I wanted to share something that I did this past week with you all. I decided to experiment and remove dairy from my diet. This was a HUGE task for myself considering I am in love with all things cheese. I was consuming some sort of dairy at least three times a day. Which is actually crazy when you think about it.

By now you all are probably familiar with DBTS Skin Bar. I was encouraged to give this dairy free diet a try after reading a post by Nancy Young. She explained how dairy and gluten are very toxic for your body. You can read her post here and I highly suggest it!

Here are my thoughts on the week as a whole:

Was it hard? At first it was, because so many things contain dairy. I had to be very conscious of what I was purchasing from the grocery store. But overall it was not difficult, I just altered my meal plan for the week. Purchased dairy free creamer (which tastes the complete same as regular creamer) from Trader Joes, this was the only “dairy free” purchase I made.

Did I feel different? I didn’t notice an extreme change in the way I felt. But I did notice that I wasn’t as sluggish as usual. Don’t get me wrong, I was still tired but the had to do with the fact that I no longer sleep. The main plus for me, was that I didn’t feel bloated. I also felt like it did not take a crazy amount of time for my muscles to recover after my workouts. Could this all be in my head? I suppose so, but there is so much evidence that supports the removal of dairy as a positive thing.

Would I do it again? Absolutely. I am planning to not consume any dairy this week as well.    I have also decided to truly remove gluten from my diet this week. Man, I’ll be a real peach without dairy or gluten haha.

Has anyone given the Whole 30 a try? I am considering giving this a try and using it as a system reset.
