For over 40 years, the Memorial Tournament has remained one of the most anticipated events of the summer. Each year, tens of thousands of fans flock to Muirfield Village Golf Club to stand next to some of their favorite players and cheer them on. This year Aaron and I got to spend another beautiful day taking in the magic that is, the Memorial.
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT
• The Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide is an official PGA TOUR event that was founded by Jack Nicklaus
• The first Tournament was held in 1976
• Every year the Tournament is held at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio
• Each year the Tournament has three goals:
1. Honor individuals living and deceased who have distinguished themselves in the game of golf
2. Showcase the world’s best golfers competing on one of the most challenging venues in the world for the enjoyment of spectators
3. Benefit many Greater Columbus Charities including the Tournament’s primary beneficiary, Nationwide Children’s Hospital in alliance with the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation
• Tiger Woods is the only golfer to have won back- to-back Tournaments (1999-2001). He’s also the only golfer to have won the Tournament 5 times (1999-2001, 2009, 2012)
• Last year the Tournament raised a total of $2,500,000 for charitable organizations in central Ohio, including a record-setting $2,020,000 for Nationwide Children’s Hospital
• Since the first Tournament, the Memorial has made $32.7 million in donations to central Ohio charities, with more than $20.5 million going to Nationwide Children’s Hospital
BRIDGE PARK DUBLIN
We kicked off our day in Dublin, thanks to Bridge Park and the Crawford Hoying Offices. Bridge Park Dublin has had a partnership with the Memorial Tournament for the last two years. One of the hardest parts about the tournament is figuring out where to park. Thanks to Bridge Park, all the guess work and logistics is taken care of! There are shuttles that run between the tournament and Bridge Park, making it easy to kick off the day with a mimosa and enjoy these beautiful rooftop views.
ABOUT THE COURSE
• The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and its name was inspired by Muirfield in Scotland, where Jack won his first British Open title in 1966
• It is currently a par 72 course and plays to 7,392 yards
• The course sits on 220 acres, including an 11-acre driving range
• Since opening, the course has consistently ranked in the top 20 in the United States
GOLDEN BEAR CLUB
Now it’s time to chit chat about one of the coolest spots at The Memorial Tournament – The Golden Bear Club. Patron Village & the Golden Bear Club are located in the heart of Tournament play between Hole No. 10 fairway and No. 14 green. The Golden Bear Club includes your choice of menu for purchase catered by Cameron Mitchell Premier Events, cash bar, television viewing, private restrooms, and open seating in a sports bar atmosphere.
If you’re looking for a break from the heat and still want to keep the fun going, this is the place for you!
VASO
After the tournament we shuttled back to Bridge Park for a cocktail and some appetizers at VASO. This was my first time visiting the VASO location in Dublin, and y’all! It was absolutely gorgeous, the drinks were amazing and the food was top notch.
FORE!FEST
Just because the tournament ended, doesn’t mean the party has to! Head on back to Bridge Park Dublin and celebrate the night away at Fore!Fest – a street and local music festival. This festival is open and free to the public, making for the perfect evening!
If you’re looking for a fun way to enjoy this gorgeous weather, grab yourself a Memorial Tournament ticket and head on over to Dublin! From the gorgeous sights of Muirfield to the amazing entertainment at Bridge Park, you are sure to have a weekend to remember.
XOXO
