Roadtrip Essentials

As many of you already know, I had a nice long drive to Florida this past week. Before I left I asked on my Instagram (emilyvdw) if anyone had any great podcast suggestions. Y’all are awesome and gave me some killer podcasts to listen to! I wanted to do a recap on all of the podcasts I explored.

Before we dive in here is a helpful tip or two if you are planning to listen to a podcast for hours upon hours:

• Download the podcast before the trip. This saves on battery and data life.

• Create a podcast playlist that auto plays while you drive. There is no reason to fumble with your phone while driving. Simply click the “Add to Up Next” for all the podcasts you want to hear and they will automatically play.

I had a solid 12 hours of listening time between going to Florida and coming back to Atlanta. Here is a brief recap of the podcasts that helped to make my drive fly by:

Startup– I listened to the latest season (season 4) on Dove Charney. Being in the fashion industry I have always found him extremely interesting and confusing. This season focused not only on his controversial past, but also his new start up apparel business. Gimlet did a great job providing an inside and unbiased look into his will be interested to see

Crimetown– I listened to season 1 which focused around mobsters and murder in Providence Rhode Island. It was pretty intense since it was based off of actual events. If it had not been daylight when I was driving I’m not sure I would have made it through the whole season.

2 Dope Queens– For this podcast I listened to a few episodes in between Crimetown. This podcast is more of a comedy show hosted by two females. They are extremely entertaining and slightly vulgar. So you have officially been warned, so whining later.

Mystery Show– I listened to season 1 (there are currently only six episodes available on Gimlet) on my way down to Florida. It was a nice change from the typical mystery podcasts I am used to listening to. The host takes what seems like a “typical” mystery to the average viewer and discovers what truly happened without using the internet.

Thank you all for your wonderful podcast suggestions! I hope this helps to give you some insight for your next road trip.
