UNICO 20°87° – Resort Review

Good morning, I can not believe we are already halfway through the month of June! Last week I shared all of the outfits I wore on our trip, you can find the post here. Today, I’m so excited to share my review of UNICO 20 ̊87 ̊ in Riviera Maya today!

Here’s my full review of UNICO 20 ̊87 ̊:

Please note, this is not a sponsored post. We did NOT receive any discounts or comped services while on our stay.

Room: We stayed in the Estancia Tropical View Suite. When you first entered the room, there was a beautiful living room and dining area. There was also a half bath in this suite to our surprise! The bedroom had a large king bed that was incredibly comfortable, and we could tell that the rooms were brand new and very clean. The bathroom was a full walk in room, with his and hers sinks, a beautiful bath and a roomy shower. Each morning and evening before dinner we spent time out on our terrace. It had a couch, lounge chairs, sitting chairs and an outdoor pool. Definitely designed to have you relaxed and refreshed in seconds! When we go back to UNICO we plan to stay in one of the swim up rooms. We loved the suite, but didn’t spend much time in the room.

PoolsThere are three different pools at UNICO 20 ̊87 ̊: two main pools (that are more of the party pools) and one serenity pool which is a lot quieter. The pools are very large and absolutely beautiful, and we had no problem finding chairs to lay out on in the morning. All of the pools are incredibly relaxing! Especially when you’re having “no name” drinks delivered to your chair hahah – waiters walk around and will deliver both drinks and food to your lounge chairs! We spent everyday at the party pool with the swim up bar. They had so many activities to keep Aaron busy, and the perfect amount of shade for myself! Ps. twice a week they brought out these amazing floats into the party pool!

Beach: The beach at UNICO 20 ̊87 ̊ was really nice but we actually didn’t spend much time there during the day (we preferred the pools!). Unfortunately Riviera Maya is currently experiencing tons of seaweed on the beach! If you are looking to spend your time at the beach, this would not be the part of Mexico for you.

Food: The food may have been one of my favorite parts of UNICO 20 ̊87 ̊! It’s an all-inclusive resort, which I think is pretty hard to do well – in the past I’ve found that the food at all-inclusive resorts isn’t that great, but that’s NOT the case here. When you arrive, your in-room minibar is stocked according to your preference (beer, water, soda, etc.), and there’s free 24-hour room service that you can order via the phone or via UNICO’s app. We definitely took advance of the 24/7 room service. For breakfast, we really loved having the option of room service, especially after those nights when you had a little too much tequila. My favorite breakfast spot was the buffet at Restaurant 20.87! They had unbelievable options and the omelette bar is a must! Restaurant 20.87, also has a lunch buffet that everyone couldn’t stop raving about. Most days we were having too much fun at the pool to leave for lunch, so we opted for poolside lunch instead. For dinner, the restaurants are all brand new and have great atmospheres – they’re beautiful. Our favorite restaurant was the Japanese one, Mura House. We enjoyed amazing edamame, sushi rolls, pad thai, and fried ice cream for dessert. Overall we ate most of our meals at Restaurant 20.87, they turned into a steakhouse (it was delicious! I had the salmon and parmesan risotto) at night and you were able to walk in without a reservation. Definitely plan your meals ahead of time in the UNICO app, because reservations fill up fast!

Activities: There are tons of activities at UNICO 20 ̊87 ̊, whether you want to stay at the resort or go off on an excursion. We opted to stay at the resort for our entire stay at UNICO 20 ̊87 ̊ and take advantage of their day and night time activities. Aaron loved playing water polo, volleyball and pong daily! We also enjoyed the salsa classes and shows in the evening. We spoke with multiple couples who said the day excursions were a blast! Our plan is to set aside 1-2 days during our next visit for these!

Spa: The spa at UNICO 20 ̊87 ̊ is GORGEOUS. The pool has moroccan tile at the bottom and lots of airy, natural light. You are able to arrive an hour before your appointment to enjoy all of their amenities!

Transportation: We flew into the Cancun airport (only a three hour flight from Columbus), and from there it was an hour and a half ride from the airport to the resort. We booked our transfer through the Cancun airport and it could not have been easier!

In conclusion, I would highly recommend UNICO 20 ̊87 ̊!! In addition to a romantic getaway, we also saw a few bachelorette parties and groups of girls, so it is a great place to go with your girl gang as well. Aaron and I are already planning our next trip back!
